ABOUT US

Founded in 1945 by a group of employees at the Elgin Mental Health Center (then the Elgin State Hospital) who found it difficult to obtain loans, at the local banks, due to the fact that the state of Illinois was not always timely with wage payments.

The group recognized the need for a financial institution to help meet the financial needs of state employees.

They formed the first board of directors and raised a small amount of capital.

The first loan granted was for an employee to attend a downstate funeral.

Since then your credit union has continued to provide valuable services to its' members.

The credit union is a member owned, non-profit, independent financial institution.
